The stage was set for this modern residence in a middle income and low-income mixed suburban area at Indigolla, Yakkala. The residence was designed to give a breath of fresh air to the lower level while the upper floor level was introverted to keep privacy from the dwelling busy narrow roads along the long & short boundaries with the surrounding building developments on both the sides. The design solution was to create an introverted house while having a great spatial relationship with the living and family dinning spaces at the ground floor level which connects to the upper floor level, TV lobby & common passage through the bedrooms by one side and one bedroom and open terrace from the other two sides by the large double height volume.

As the house is obstructed by the busy roads, this solidity is broken at the main entry level into this large double height volume of operable aluminum glass windows which encapsulates the open plan living, dinning and pantry of the house.

The main entry is separated in to two access points, one is from the largest side of the house which acts as the main entry and the other at starter boundary acts as a visitor's entry to the house.

Residence floor print covers 5.5perches of the total 12 perches, while paved two vehicle porches at both the sides of the house along the garden enhances the maximum usage of the plot area into functional and environmental aspects.

The main element of the design is the decorative straight flight staircase which is highlighted by the vertical steel screen that consists of well played out horizontal rods mimicking a cage whilst the display pantry setup at the bottom of the stairway enhances the quality of the stairway and the living.

A wide straight flight concrete stairway finished by wooden steps leads to the first floor where the TV lounge is located. From this level the spacious double-height can be experienced which gives the TV lounge an additional volume that its foot print may determine. The TV lounge leads to two bedrooms, the master bedroom and to the open terrace.

A wood grain aluminum screen has been used along the longest facade of the house to create a sense of longevity and privacy to the spaces and lightness to the concrete balconies and the leaner structure of the residence. The natural ventilation has been embraced purely by the large window openings.

The modern architectural language of the house is highlighted by the dark-grey coloured steel details such as the stairway, handrails and steel screen while usage of white colour is poured out in to all interior spaces which has brought out more reflection to all internal spaces.

The dark beige colour has been used for the full length of the parapet wall of the residence to brake the vertical height of the design from the residence wall to parapet wall which exposes an attractive horizontal proportion to the residence by the longest elevation.
